Chris…. the boy in the corner.
The last 15 years have been somewhat of a whirlwind for Chris. A good whirlwind at that though…
Birmingham. 1996. The penny dropped house music became his passion and it has remained there ever since. Since that time Chris has been DJing and working in Radio. Initially working hard cutting his teeth in Kent and Southampton the first big breakthrough came with a chance to work at the legendary NRG dance radio station in Bournemouth which became FIRE FM. During this time he was resident at the Opera House playing weekly to over a thousand people and building the success of the radio station. The bigger world called and in 2005 and he spent a season in Ibiza based at the Café Mambo studios managing the on air team for HFM and following that time a residency for Hed Kandi was started.
In 2006 the call came from Ministry of Sound and Chris went on to become the Head of Radio there, managing the station and steering it into a 100% increase in listening figures and expansion of their global radio syndication.
Chris is still living and working in London running his own media company ‘theboyinthecorner’ producing world class radio, podcasts, remixes, managing voiceover talent and DJing. In addition to being one of the residents for the largest house brand in the world with gigs all over the UK and internationally. In couple of years alone he has travelled extensively playing in Egypt, Dubai, the Dominican Republic, Columbia, Malaysia, Germany, Amsterdam, Saravajo, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain and many more. All these nights get 100% from the man that just loves to play tunes and rock a club.
It would be rude if he didn’t put back anything into the industry, so he has been busy working in the studio over the last 6 years on producing his own tracks and remixing. Latest releases have been released through Ministry of Sound (data recordings), Hed Kandi, Phonetic recordings and the Audio Freaks with very exciting new projects in the pipeline. In partnership with Luke Dubyah – ‘Electronic Sunshine’ had a worldwide release through Sunrise Music (New York) in 2008.
So, as far as 2009 goes? It’s certainly going to involve a lot more parties, studio time, releases and yet more hard work. You’ll be quite pleasantly surprised by what comes out of the corner…….
